Zusammenfassung: | This paper proposes an adaptive error control mechanism (G-AEC) for wireless media streaming, in the hope that the media could be played on receivers with high quality. This model, based on group of pictures fetching according to the frame decoding dependency model of MPEG-4 and cross-layer optimization design, which uses adaptive Forward Error Correction (FEC) at the application layer to adjust to the current network condition and Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) at the link layer to meet the different requirement of wireless link, can maximize the performance of wireless multimedia communication. Our mathematical analysis shows that the proposed G-AEC mechanism achieves better quality of media streaming, in terms of playable frame rate, reliability and real-time performance on the receiving side. |
