description Development of electromagnetic compatible rugged launch computer (RLC) system in rack mountable form for missile launch application is very critical for stringent electromagnetic environments defined by military standard. Often, the system does not meet the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements even after implementing all the possible EMC measures at the design stage. The EMC engineers observes the electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance of the system during formal compliance testing and analyses all possible reasons for any failures and then apply fundamental EMI mitigation techniques with standard suppression components and implement innovative EMC measures. In this paper the authors have shared their experience in achieving EMC of a RLC system for missile application during formal compliance testing phase.
