description Firstly, several existing methods for measuring the wave speed in the fluid in a pipe are summarized. Their basic principles, advantages and limitations are compared. To improve the existing methods' limitations, the authors suggest a far simple method to obtain wave speed in viscoeleastic pipes by using experimental pressure data measured in the object viscoelastic pipes. In the new method, flow in pipe is basically modeled by a transfer matrix method, and wave speed in pipe is obtained as data in frequency series. With the new measuring method, a frequency series wave speed data in a quite broad range of frequency could be obtained in a single process of test with a very short test time. The wave speed in pipe as data in frequency series can be used to compute the pressure pulsation transmission in hydraulic pipe systems.
