description | On the basis of the field survey, this paper analyzes the status quo of urban land expansion in backward region of small town: Juanshui town of Tongcheng county in Hubei province and makes a stepwise analysis on such factors influencing the urban land expansion. The results showed that: (1) the tertiary industry was the leading force promoting the urban land expansion in backwardness area; (2) the expansion of residential land was the main components of urban land-use structure, the effect of housing system reform on the urban residential land expansion was significant and the urban planning was the dominant factor guiding the residential land expansion, however, the expansion of the residential land which mainly consisted of the private housing resulted in the low efficiency of the urban land use; (3) the infrastructure development generally lagged behind the expansion of the urban land, the urban land expansion was extensive; (4) while the development of the land market lagged behind and the expansion of the urban land was at the cost of a number of the cultivated land, the land market has gradually become the incentives to enhance the urban land expansion. |
