description | The aim of this paper is to present our investigation on the impact of implementing animated pedagogical agent (APA) technology on learners' motivation in learning a new language or dialect. This paper presents the design and development of our online learning site that can be used to teach Sarawak Malay dialect using APA. This paper reports and discusses the development and implementation of our online learning tool. In this tool, there are 106 dialogues of Sarawak Malay dialect available. Kamek, a computer-animated talking head is introduced to represent the language teacher. The quality of her visible speech has been modified to nearly simulate naturally talking humans. In this paper we have evaluated the performance of Kamek. From the usability testing, we argue that Kamek could enhance the learning process of Sarawak Malay dialect. |
