As one of the range-free localization algorithms, DV-hop algorithm can be simply implemented in real WSN. In this paper, we propose a reasonable placement strategy of anchor nodes. Based on this placement strategy, a new long range localization DV-hop algorithm (PLR DV-hop), which needs no additional hardware device, is offered. Simulation results confirm that PLR DV-hop performs better than original DV-hop algorithm: it consumes less power and can provide more accurate location estimation.
