description The paper presents results of research work on a prototype trolleybus with asynchronous motor drive system and with energy storage operated by the urban transportation company in Lublin. There are shown operation test results with a capacitor type energy storage and with an additional accumulator battery and without the battery. Basing on the operation test results, the advantages are shown, resulting from the introduction of this technical solution, such as energy saving and the possibilities of travelling over sections of routes without power supply from the traction network.
