Zusammenfassung:It is widely believed that weather-clutter amplitude statistics obey a Rayleigh distribution, and that from this assumption, the log/constant false-alarm rate (CFAR) system may be derived. Attention is given to the fact that the weather clutter samples are not always distributed according to a Rayleigh distribution and the output level is not kept constant. Finally, it is demonstrated that the clutter amplitudes obey the more encompassing Weibull distribution, which incorporates the Rayleigh distribution as a special case.
