description With the advancement of high-frequency switched mode power supplies (SMPS), the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues have aroused people's attentions in power electronic converter designs. The converter section of SMPS always produce some high frequency harmonics, which have enough energy to affect the operations of the control section or other circuit boards nearby. In order to reduce number of prototypes, costs and delays, it is necessary to evaluate the characteristics of SMPS. For this reason, a modeling process has been developed to foresee the behavior of SMPS and evaluate its radiated emissions. Taking a boost converter for example, this paper addresses the modeling of SMPS in order to calculate and simulate the radiated electromagnetic field especially in the near field region. Theoretical analysis and simulation results have pointed out that more attentions should be paid to the near field emission of the SMPS especially when the system needs solid assembly
