Centimeter-size single-domain colloidal crystals on patterned substrates

We report the deposition of colloidal films through electrophoresis on conductive substrates patterned with holographic gratings. We observe long-range hexagonal or square ordering when the particle diameter is commensurate with the grating pitch.
