GÖÇ KİMLİK AİDİYET EKSENİNDE NİL YALTER

The phenomenon of migration has arisen for many reasons throughout history and has become known for its impact on the identity and belonging of subjects beyond defining the displacement of societies. Migration, which is one of the most important sociological phenomena of modernism, has deeply affected the field of art. While sociologists scientifically examine migration, artists have created many artistic products to draw attention to the causes, processes and consequences of migration, especially in the post-modern period. Nil Yalter, who has made important works related to human and society in the 20th and 21st centuries, is one of the artists who drew attention to the themes of migration, identity and belonging with her artistic productions. The artist has taken place in both national and international platforms with her painting, performance, installation, video and photography works, and met with the audience in important art institutions around the world. In this study, Nil Yalter's work on immigrants and identity, which focuses on people from a universal perspective, is discussed. First of all, the concepts of immigration, identity and belonging are briefly explained in general and some Turkish artists who worked on these subjects are mentioned. Then the artist's approach to these social issues tried to be shown with examples chosen from Yalter's works which she created with various mediums such as painting, performance, installation, video and photography.
