Zusammenfassung:The 2 S 1 2 −2 P 3 2 energy splitting in hydrogenic phosphorus has been measured by laser resonance spectroscopy to b e E exp=2.23133(12) eV, which leads to a 2S Lamb shift E exp(LS)=0.08349(12) eV. This result, because of its low associated error, forms an important test of QED calculations. The experimental value is compared with the theoretical value E th(LS)=0.08376(4) eV, and with analogous results in the region 1 ≤ Z ≤ 18.
