CONTRIBUTIONS OF UNIVERSIDAD DE CALDAS TO CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION/CONTRIBUCIONES DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE CALDASA LA FORMACION CIUDADANA

Universidad de Caldas takes into account in its mission a contribution to educate citizens. However, the University did not count with a systematic study that could account for such contribution before this research whose results are presented in this article. The study was conducted during the years 2011 and 2012 and was aimed to establish the status of that contribution in the same period of time. The work was oriented by the basic criteria of action-research. Students, teachers and university directors were asked to participate. A research group was formed with fourteen sociology students about to graduate with whom the determination of concepts used and the research process were agreed. The understanding of the research problem, the methodological and conceptual criteria that guided the work as well as the findings and suggestions based on the research process, which was in turn a citizen education process, are presented in this article.
