Zusammenfassung:This article discusses the competencies required of project managers who work in the Construction sector. It is based on a survey involving 27 large companies based in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais. These companies were selected by the representativeness criteria with the support of the President of Construction Exchange Group on Human Resources (HR-GICC) linked to the Construction Industry Union in the State of Minas Gerais (SINDUSCON-MG). Respondents were appointed by the leaders of their respective companies. Data were collected in the second half of 2014, by reasoned questionnaire in the framework proposed by Quinn et al. (2003). They surveyed 45 project managers who work at the interface with the Human Resources Area (ARH). Data processing was based on descriptive statistics. The results indicate that, in Construction, project management has demanded, especially skills related to Mentor roles, Producer and Director, prevailing models of rational targets and human relations.
