description This article analyzes psychosocial risks related to workload, pace, and work schedule of health family teams. It is exploratory and descriptive and is run on a qualitative approach to data. Subjects were 24 (twenty-four) professionals of family health teams in the backlands of the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Data were collected in 2008 through semi-structured interviews. Theme analysis of data unveiled psychosocial risks, namely, overload and long work hours. Professionals identify the association of task accumulation with speeding work pace. Long work hours are required, affecting worker's wellness and compromising work quality. Risk-managing strategies should take into account proper management of human resources, incorporating the best technologies for workers' health and the environment.
