Malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the maxillary sinus and importance of three-dimensional imaging: case report/Maksiller sinuste malign fibroz histiositom ve uc boyutlu goruntulemenin onemi: olgu sunumu

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is a high-grade and aggressive sarcoma. It is relatively rare in the head and neck region. Its diagnosis is based on immunohistochemical stains. An 81-year-old male patient was referred to our clinic with a mass in the left maxillary sinus and toothache. He did not have any nasal obstruction, epistaxis or anosmia. The patient received a total left maxillectomy with preservation of the orbital contents. Five months after the surgery, the patient was clinically well without any evidence of local recurrence or distant metastasis.Three-dimensional computed tomography is valuable in the detection of involvement of surrounding tissues. Bas ve boyun bolgesinde nadir gorulur. Teshisi immunohistokimyasal yontemlere dayanmaktadir. 81 yasinda erkek hasta klinigimize sol maksiller sinuste kitle ve dis agrisi ile sevk edildi. Burun tikanikligi, burun kanamasi veya anosmi yoktu. Hastaya orbital icerigi koruyarak sol total maksillektomi uygulandi. Ameliyat sonrasi besinci ayda hastada herhangi bir nuks ya da uzak metastaz izlenmedi. Uc boyutlu bilgisayarli tomografi cevre dokularin tutulumunu gosterme acisindan cok degerlidir.
