Zusammenfassung: | The computer graphics industry is in good health and the SIGGRAPH trade show is benefitting from this fact. The 1995 SIGGRAPH show in Los Angeles was attended by 38,661 people, and demand for floor space was heavy. The additional requests for space mean the 1996 show in New Orleans will need to be even larger. For 1996, the show already has contracts for 123,610 square feet of floor space that will be occupied by 169 companies. The Los Angeles location gave the graphics industry a chance to show their wares before the leaders in the entertainment industry. The hottest topic in the show was the Internet's World Wide Web, particularly 3D graphics for the Web. Interactive entertainment did not receive the attention it has in prior shows, but there were plenty virtual reality (VR) devices on display. Microsoft's Windows NT received support from demonstrations of Microsoft's Softimage and Autodesk's 3D Studio Max running on the operating system. |
