description The objective of this study was to analyze the profile and verify the effects of nutritional intervention on the eating habits of physical exercise practitioners in the city of DouradosMS. To this end, a non-randomized intervention study was carried out involving 38 practitioners of different sports, of both sexes and over 18 years of age, during the period from April to May 2022. The profile of practitioners was obtained through a questionnaire and food consumption by 24-hour recall (R24). After anthropometric evaluation and analysis of the food consumption of the practitioners, a dietary plan was prepared to be followed for 40 uninterrupted days. After this period, an R24 was applied again to assess changes in food consumption, which was verified using Student's T test (p [less than or equal to] 0.05). It was observed that the food consumption of practitioners before the intervention was hypoglycemic, hyperproteic and hyperglycidic and with low fiber consumption. For micronutrients low intake of potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin E, D, B9, B5 and intake above the recommended for sodium, phosphorus and copper. After nutritional intervention, there was a significant decrease (p [less than or equal to] 0.05) in the consumption of protein, lipids, vitamin E, phosphorus and selenium and an increase in fiber. However, only 50% of the participants effectively adhered to the proposed food planning, evidencing the need for a systematic nutritional monitoring and with a professional nutritionist, in the long term, to improve the food consumption of physical exercise practitioners.
