Physio-morphological determination of potato crop regulated by potassium sources management

description A study was conducted at the Institute of Horticultural Sciences, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (Pakistan) during 2006-07 and 2007-08 to see the effect of different potassium sources on physio-morphological aspects of potato (Solanum tuberosum) crop. Recommended N, P and K doses @ 250-125-125 kg per hectare were applied K from different sources i.e. FYM, SOP and MOP was applied in ten combinations. Data on different qualitative and quantitative traits were collected. The results revealed that all K from SOP produced more leaves per plant (44.98), plant height (51cm), tubers per plant (6.98), tuber weight per plant (296.83 g) and yield (18.81 t/ha). Similarly, same treatment also excelled in TSS (5.52%) and tuber dry weight (82.60 g/plant). However, 1/2 K as SOP and 1/2 K as FYM was equally effective for tuber weight per plant (291.50 g), yield (19.23 t/ha) and tuber dry weight (82.34 g/plant).
