description The effect of two root knot nematodes, Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica, on the growth, on stem and nodules and N2 fixation of Sesbania rostrata legume was investigated in greenhouse conditions. M. javanica significantly reduced plant growth, stem and root nodulation and N2 fixation. The high reduction of stem nodulation and N2 fixation suggests that this decrease is due to a systemic effect. The relative little damage to growth and nodulation in relation to high populations of M. incognita suggests that S. rostrata is tolerant to this root-knot nematode species [E' stato studiato, in condizioni di serra, l'effetto di due nematodi galligeni, Meloidogyne incognita e M. javanica, sulla crescita, sul fusto e sui tubercoli e la fissazione dell'N2 della leguminosa Sesbania rostrata.
