För Sjöormen erfordrades en ny eldledning som skulle kunna hantera såväl trådstyrda tunga torpeder som målsökande lätta torpeder. Krav fanns också att i eldledningen kunna beräkna målfaktorerna för minst två mål. Därför togs TCI 105 fram. Torpedofficeren och en operatör klarade utföra arbetet vid var sin huvudenhet. Alla ubåtens informationskällor, (passiv och aktiv hydrofon, periskop och radar) kan mata informationer till instrumentet. Stridsläget presenteras på en bildskärm (av true-motion typ, enligt Ellsén, Jan: Svensk torped 100 år, 1876-1976) där olika symboler visar ubåtens, målets och torpedens läge, kurs och fart. Instrumentet klarade alla typer av skjutning, med automatisk eller manuell styrning antingen mot framförpunkt eller siktlinjestyrning.
