description The site is situated at about 8 km north-east from Miercurea-Ciuc and at about 1 km north-east of Șoimeni village (Csikcsomortán), Păuleni-Ciuc commune, Harghita County, in a place called by the natives Várdomb (fortress hill). Archaeological researches in the years 1956, 1960 and 1967 and in 1999-2012 revealed rich Eneolithic (Cucuteni-Ariușd and Coțofeni) and Bronze Age (Costișa-Ciomortan and Wietenberg) evidence within the site. In 2012 research was continued in the eastern sector of the site, mainly in the area of inner side of the rampart, on a surface of 64 sqm. The researches covered the Cucuteni-Ariușd culture layer, the rampart and inner ditch belonging to the Costișa-Ciomortan culture, and the dwelling belonging to Wietenberg culture. Eneolithic. Complex (Cpl.) 48 was partially excavated. The burned debris of this dwelling was spread on surface covering 10x4 m. The dwelling perimeter could not be established, since a part of it is outside the trench line, towards north (sq. H-L/6) and towards east (sq. M-N/3-5). In present, we can say that this house was built on the edge of the hill, it was oriented from east to west. The beginning of the Middle Bronze Age. Complex 15 is a ditch, parallel to the rampart. Its filling consists from slightly loose black soil, gravel and stones as well as ceramic fragments of the Costișa-Ciomortan culture (pottery with brushed surface and ceramic fragments decorated with incised triangles). Middle Bronze Age. The dwelling no. 32 was built at the inner slope of the rampart and belongs with the Wietenberg culture. Its northern side is of about 6 m in length, it was slightly dug in the rampart, and it is oriented northwest-southeast. The eastern and western walls are of about 4 m long. At the floor level, in the western part of the dwelling, a hearth and four post holes were uncovered (pits 315-318).
