Between urban tourism, rural tourism and recreational traffic - opportunities for tourism development in the urban area, explored using the example of Fürstenfeldbruck district

"Der Beitrag entstand im Rahmen der Mitarbeit des Verfassers am Kapitel 'Tourismus' des Leitbildprozesses des Landkreises Fürstenfeldbruck. Es konnten somit Möglichkeiten für die häufig geforderte Kooperation im Tourismus zwischen Stadt und Umland am Beispiel der Stadt München und eines bisher wenig touristisch erschlossenen Kreises an ihrer Peripherie beispielhaft untersucht werden. Nach einer Bestandsaufnahme des natur- und kulturräumlichen sowie infrastrukturellen Potenzials werden drei touristische Bereiche definiert, die in Ansätzen vorhanden sind und in Zukunft gefördert werden sollten: In den Großgemeinden am Münchner Stadtrand Bereitstellung von Hotelunterkünften für München-Touristen sowie Tagungs- und Eventtourismus, letzterer vor allem im 'Veranstaltungsforum Fürstenfeld' auf dem Areal des ehemaligen Klosters, im naturnahen ländlichen Raum des Kreises Naherholungsverkehr mit Schwerpunkt Wandern und Radwandern." (Autorenreferat) "This paper emerged from the involvement of the author in producing the 'Tourism' chapter of the guiding principles for the rural district of Fürstenfeldbruck. There have been many calls for urban centres and their surrounding areas to cooperate in tourism, and the investigation here examines opportunities for such cooperation using the example of the city of Munich and an area on the urban periphery that has thus far been little developed for tourism. A survey of the potential of the area in terms of nature, culture and infrastructure was undertaken. This was followed by the identification of three particular types of tourism that already exist in their rudiments and that are suitable for further development in the future. Thus in the large municipalities on the edge of Munich hotel accommodation should be provided for Munich tourists; business and event tourism should also be developed here, especially in the Event Forum Fürstenfeld located on the site of the former monastery. In the near-natural rural area of the district, opportunities for local recreation with a focus on walking and cycling should be extended." (author's abstract)
