Zusammenfassung:This paper discusses the development of the ten-level framework of English for Thailand based on the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR). This includes the steps involved, namely, the rationale, the drawing of the descriptors and their components, the focus group meetings with the stakeholders and the expert verification, the public hearing and the endorsement of the responsible institution. The discussion also focuses on the use of the framework for the English proficiency standards of academics and professionals for Thailand.
