Zusammenfassung:Successful discipline, improved school climates, and behavioral competence are integrally related to improving academic outcomes. This policy brief presents common discipline practices in schools and discuss current discipline data from Indiana. In addition, the report examines school-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS), an alternative approach to student discipline and its implementation nationally. Finally, the paper presents possible PBS implementation recommendations for Indiana educators and policymakers to consider as a way to shift the paradigm of school discipline by designing environments, arranging instruction, and adopting practices that promote desirable behavior in students.
