Zusammenfassung:This study examined five subscales of the Pennsylvania Educational Quality Assessment self-concept scale, composed largely of items from the Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory, in terms of socioeconomic status (SES) and sex differences in internal consistency, stability, across time changes in means, and relationship with achievement. In general, internal consistency increased with SES and with grade level. Stability also tended to increase with SES. Results of repeated measures Analysis of Variance revealed significant SES and Time main effects with means increasing linearly with increases in SES and with time. Low positive relationships were found between self-concept and achievement with little difference between SES or sex. (Author)
