Zusammenfassung:At the request of the Senate Subcommittee on Education an inquiry was conducted as a joint effort of the Department of Interior and the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare to determine whether responsibility for Indian education should continue to reside with the Bureau of Indian Affairs or be transfered to the Office of Education. The conclusions indicated that the educational function should remain with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, but with the close cooperation of the Office of Education to ensure the upgrading of existing educational programs.
