Zusammenfassung: | The present invention relates to a method for producing a fumigant gas that consists of a mixture of phosphine and carbonic gas. The method involves adding to the starting composition of reactants a binder, an acid as well as a substance capable of generating carbon dioxide during a chemical endothermic process. The method comprises mixing a metal phosphide, the above-mentioned substance and the binder, and reacting the mixture thus obtained with a mixture of acid and water in order to produce simultaneously the phosphine and the carbon dioxide. The heat released is compensated by the chemical endothermic process during the production of carbon dioxide from the substance introduced into the mixture. The device for realising this method comprises a reactor that consists of at least one unit comprising two communicating chambers. One of the chambers is intended for accommodating the mixture comprising the metal phosphide, the above-mentioned substance and the binder, while the other chamber is intended for accommodating the mixture of acid and water. An outlet opening for the fumigant gas is further provided in the chamber containing the acid and water mixture. The device may include a plurality of units and can be a portable one. This invention also relates to different variants of fumigation methods as well as to a system for controlling the gas concentration according to the types of objects to be treated and to the convection currents therein.
