The plastic block forms a recess (27) which accommodates the brake pads and allows the brake pads to reach a stable abutment position against the bearing surface of the stationary supporting portion during braking. La présente invention concerne un étrier de frein (10) qui comprend une partie de support métallique fixe (14) pouvant être fixée à un véhicule à deux roues, deux plaquettes de frein (12, 13) avec des plateaux de frein (12b, 13b) associés ayant au moins une face latérale (18a, 18b) s'étendant lors de l'utilisation dans un sens sensiblement radial par rapport à un axe de rotation d'une roue du véhicule. Un bloc coulissant (15) comprend deux plaques d'extrémité métalliques (21, 22) entre lesquelles un corps rigide (24) en matière plastique est interposé et verrouillé. La partie de support fixe (14) a une surface de butée (25) faisant face à l'une (18a) des faces latérales (18a, 18b) de chaque plateau de frein (12b, 13b). Le bloc en matière plastique forme un renfoncement (27) qui reçoit les plaquettes de frein et permet aux plaquettes de frein d'atteindre une position de butée stable contre la surface d'appui de la partie de support fixe pendant le freinage.
