La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de matériaux poreux pour éléments optiques, les lentilles de contact et les matériaux poreux ayant un indice de réfraction à gradient. Un procédé de production d'un matériau poreux selon l'invention comprend les étapes suivantes : (i) la production des particules, (ii) la distribution des particules à l'intérieur de la masse de polymère optiquement transparent, (iii) la formation des couches, (iv) l'exposition desdites couches à une émission, (v) le retrait des particules à partir des couches pour former les pores, et (vi) la production du matériau poreux à partir de ces couches. Dans l'étape (iv), ladite émission est utilisée pour chauffer les particules et faire évaporer partiellement le matériau de base autour des particules de telle sorte qu'elles peuvent être retirées. Dans l'étape (v), les pores formés sont remplis d'une substance ayant un indice de réfraction différent de l'indice de réfraction du matériau de base. Ceci simplifie le procédé de production et accroît la fonctionnalité d'un matériau poreux ayant des propriétés optiques prédéterminées.
