description | A cooperative orbital object identification system (1) is disclosed herein that comprises an identification station (4) and at least one tagged orbital object, i.e. an orbital object (3) with a retroreflecting identification tag (2) mounted thereon. The retroreflecting identification tag (2) comprises a spectral filter (20), 20', 20") having a surface area partitioned into respective surface area portions having respective, mutually different spectral characteristics. In this way it I rendered possible to distinguish a tagged orbital object from a potentially large set of tagged orbital object in an efficient way that does not need an energy source in the orbital object (3).
