La torsion ajoute davantage de caractère aléatoire et de variabilité au comportement de remplissage de la bobine endovasculaire. Le caractère aléatoire et la variabilité ajoutés permettent à la bobine de la figure 8 torsadée de mieux remplir le vide d'anévrismes de forme irrégulière que d'autres bobines emboliques classiques.
