La présente invention porte sur un procédé d'analyse d'acétylène gazeux à câble souterrain et un appareil d'analyse d'acétylène gazeux à câble souterrain associé, le procédé calculant la quantité d'acétylène incluse dans un gaz à analyser, au moyen d'acétaldéhydes générés en faisant entrer le gaz à analyser en contact avec un catalyseur d'hydratation d'acétylène. À cet effet, la présente invention peut mettre en œuvre l'appareil d'analyse d'acétylène gazeux à câble souterrain et le procédé d'analyse d'acétylène gazeux, lequel peut détecter l'acétylène gazeux même à partir d'une petite quantité d'échantillons d'environ 10 ml et permettre un diagnostic précis parce que la limite de détection ne dépasse pas 0,1 ppm, et peut être portable afin de procéder à une analyse de gaz sur site, permettant ainsi de diagnostiquer un défaut à l'avance.
