In some aspects, the invention relates to methods for assessing cell adhesion under regulated conditions, for example gas concentration, temperature, shear force, and attachment to proteins. In some aspects, the invention relates to methods and devices for identifying therapeutic agents. In some aspects, the invention relates to methods and devices for diagnosing and/or characterizing a condition or disease in a subject, for example, by measuring a property of a cell from the subject under controlled conditions.
