In order to reduce the tendency of a cotton fabric or other cellulose fabric to wrinkle, the fabric is brought in contact with an oxidizing agent which oxidizes vicinal OH groups in the anhydroglucose ring of the cellulose so as to obtain carbonyl groups, and with a polymer containing amino groups, and is then ironed if desired.
