COLLECTING AND HARVESTING CUT BONE FROM KERRISON RONGEUR

A collector used to collect bone includes: a container body defining an interior containment space for receiving and retaining collected bone, and having at least one open end for access and removal of collected bone from the interior containment space; and a cap in covering relation to the open end of the container body such that access to the interior containment space for removal of collected bone is inhibited. The collector includes an intake port defining an opening for receiving therein a distal end of a kerrison rongeur for collecting cut bone from a cutting area thereof, and the cap includes at least one scraper for engaging and dislodging cut bone from the cutting area of a distal end of a kerrison rongeur when received within the intake port. The collector preferably is used with a kerrison-type rongeur for collecting cut bone therefrom. La présente invention concerne un collecteur utilisé pour collecter des os, comprenant les éléments suivants : un corps de récipient définissant un espace de confinement interne, pour recevoir et conserver des os collectés, et possédant au moins une extrémité ouverte pour l'accès aux os collectés et leur retrait depuis l'espace de confinement interne; et un capuchon en relation de recouvrement avec l'extrémité ouverte du corps de récipient, de manière à empêcher l'accès à l'espace de confinement interne pour le retrait d'os recueillis. Le collecteur comprend un orifice d'admission définissant une ouverture pour recevoir à l'intérieur une extrémité distale d'un rongeur de Kerrison afin de recueillir des os coupés depuis sa zone de découpe, et le capuchon comprend au moins un racloir pour venir en prise avec et déloger des os coupés de la zone de découpe d'une extrémité distale d'un rongeur de Kerrison lorsqu'il est accueilli à l'intérieur de l'orifice d'admission. Le collecteur est utilisé de préférence avec un rongeur de type Kerrison pour recueillir des os coupés provenant dudit rongeur.
