L'invention concerne des polymères choisis parmi le polypropylène (PP), le polycarbonate (PC), l'acrylonitrile-butadiène-styrène (ABS), le poly(chlorure de vinyle) (PVC) et le poly(téréphtalate d'éthylène) (PET), le Nylon et le polystyrène, présentant des propriétés antibactériennes, l'effet antibactérien étant obtenu par l'addition d'un sel de zinc choisi parmi : le zinc PCA, l'oxyde de zinc, l'hydroxyde de zinc, la pyrrolidone zincique ou la pyrithione zincique pendant le procédé de polymérisation des monomères.
