Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a steering actuator mechanism for the wheels of a motor vehicle, comprising: a casing (1) including an intermediate body (1a) having an inner chamber (2a, 2b, 2c), an inlet passage (2d) for a rotation-transmitting element for transferring rotational movements and two side bodies (1b, 1c) having respective inner side housings (2e, 2f) in communication with the inner chamber (2a, 2b, 2c, 2g); and a conversion mechanism for converting the rotational movements into axial linear movements performed by a linear movement element that can move axially to the right and to the left in response to the rotational movements, said linear movement element including two free ends projecting from the sides of the side bodies (1b, 1c) of the casing (1) in order to connect the free ends to respective transmitting mechanisms connected to the wheels of the motor vehicle. According to the invention: the rotation-transmitting element is a worm screw (3) that meshes with a ring gear (4) which is rotatably mounted in the inner chamber (2a, 2b, 2c, 2g) of the casing (1) and which comprises a central opening (4a); the worm screw (3) is rotatably guided in the inlet passage (2d); the linear movement element is a screw element (5) comprising an intermediate part in the form of a ball screw (5a) and both end parts (5b, 5c) are axially guided in the inner side housings (2e, 2f) of the casing (1); and the ball screw (5a) meshes with the ring gear (4) by means of transverse grooves in a grooved passage (6a) that rotates integrally with the ring gear (4) and extends through the central opening (4a) of the ring gear (4).
