The present invention relates to a functional chair allowing normal usage as an ordinary chair, but by means of a simple and convenient manipulation can not only massage the area around the spine to relieve fatigue but can also gather the spine area inwards so as to adjust the spine. The present invention comprises: a backrest support, connected to the rear of the seat board, extending upwards; a backrest, fixed to the backrest support, having a plurality of operational holes perforating both side of the front surface thereof in a zig-zig pattern; a rotating axis fixed in the center of the rear of the backrest; two rotating plates each having a plurality of finger-like extensions in horizontally coincident locations as the operational holes of the backrest, in directions facing each other, positioned so as not to interfere with each other, and each of which is rotably fixed on the rotating axis via rotating sleeves; operating rods, each fixed on the opposite side of the finger-like extensions of the rotating sleeve, emerging in the frontward direction through the operating holes when each of the rotating plates are rotated; massage rollers rotably fixed on the operating rods; and arm rests, fixed on the side part of each of the rotating plates, for inducing the massage rollers to emerge to the front surface of the backrest in accordance with the spreading action thereof in opposite directions.
