Les surfaces des articles ont des angles de contact de gouttes sessiles d'eau et d'huile supérieurs à 150° et une hystérésis de l'angle de mouillage faible qui conduit à un faible angle de glissement de gouttes d'eau ou d'huile liquides. Selon certains modes de réalisation, les angles de contact de l'eau et de l'huile sont supérieurs à 170°.
