La brique à plaque est fabriquée par ajout d'un liant organique à un composé ignifuge de matières premières comprenant de 0,5 à 20 % en masse d'aluminium et/ou d'un alliage de l'aluminium, par mélange puis formage du résultat et par traitement thermique à une température entre 400°C et 1 000°C.
