description An oil separator for use in separating oil from refrigerant gas in a chiller system is provided. The non-circular shape of the entrance to the refrigerant outlet pipe provides for more turbulent gas flow and a greater extraction of oil as well as minimization of pressure losses. L'invention concerne un séparateur d'huile à utiliser dans la séparation de l'huile d'un gaz réfrigérant dans un système de refroidissement. Son fonctionnement est basé sur les principes de la séparation centrifuge et ne requiert l'utilisation d'aucun type de filtre ou de garniture de milieu pour éliminer l'huile du gaz réfrigérant. Le séparateur d'huile comprend un tuyau de sortie de fluide réfrigérant non circulaire (par exemple elliptique) qui fait la transition entre l'écoulement linéaire de la connexion d'entrée et un écoulement tourbillonnant (par exemple circulaire) au sein du logement cylindrique.
