La présente invention est basée sur le développement d'une technologie liée à la transformation de plantes et à l'expression de protéines non végétales dans un hôte végétal. En particulier, la technologie peut être employée pour la génération de plantes transgéniques qui peuvent produire et exprimer des protéines animales utiles pour induire une réponse immunitaire contre des virus. L'un de ces virus est le circovirus porcin de type II (PCVII), qui a été associé à des maladies telles que la maladie de l'amaigrissement du porcelet (MAP) qui a menacé les populations de porcs.
