L'invention concerne une cellule qui permet de cribler un agent candidat inhibiteur du métabolisme de la conversion du tryptophan en NAD+ et/ou modulateur des niveaux de NAD+, laquelle cellule comprend des gènes fonctionnels d'une voie permettant le métabolisme de la conversion du tryptophan en NAD+ et comprend une copie d'un gène exogène de ladite voie, issu d'une espèce semblable à celle de la cellule ou différente de celle-ci. La cellule exogène est sous le contrôle d'un promoteur inductible ou constitutif, et toute copie endogène du gène ayant la même fonction que le gène exogène est un gène non fonctionnel.
