The present invention relates, in one aspect, to a medical device for sampling biological material comprising; (i) an elongate housing (12); (ii) a probe (15) for sampling the biological material slideably mounted within the elongate housing; and (iii) a current supply electrically coupled to the probe or elongate housing (12); wherein said elongate housing (12) and said probe (15) are made from materials having different Peltier potentials such that supply of current from the current supply generates a Peltier effect between said elongate housing and said probe. Furthermore, the invention relates to an assembly for housing, storing, and for transporting a medical device, wherein the receptacle comprises materials having different Peltier potentials. La présente invention se rapporte, dans un aspect, à un dispositif médical de prélèvement de matériel biologique comprenant (i) un corps allongé (12), (ii) une sonde (15) pour prélever le matériel biologique, montée de manière coulissante dans le corps allongé, et (iii) un système d'alimentation en courant raccordé électriquement à la sonde ou au corps allongé (12). Le corps allongé (12), et ladite sonde (15) sont composés de matériaux présentant des potentiels Peltier différents, de telle sorte que le courant d'alimentation crée un effet Peltier entre le corps allongé et ladite sonde.
