Dans des modes de réalisation particuliers, une composition contenant une source de carbone, telle que du charbon, est soumise à un ajout d'énergie, tel qu'une concentration réactive d'énergie élevée, produisant un produit de concentration enrichi en carbone de type diamant amorphe tétrahédrique hydrogéné par rapport au charbon.
