QUICK CHANGE HOLDER FOR CUTTING TOOL

A quick change tool holder (10) is provided for cutter inserts (16) on machine tools which comprises a housing (13) which is adapted to receive and conform to the shape of a cutter insert (16). A pivoting arm (12) is mounted in the insert housing (13) and rotates about a pivot (30) therein. The pivoting arm (12) has a clamp portion (22) extending from the pivot (30) to a position over a seat portion (18) which is adapted to engage a cutter insert (16). In addition, the pivoting arm (12) has an arm (32) extending from the pivot (30) opposite the clamp portion (22). Lastly, a cam (14) is engaged by a distal end (34) of the arm (32). The cam (14) has a clamp position which forces the clamp portion (22) to engage a cutter insert (16) and a release position which forces the clamp portion (22) to disengage from a cutter insert (16) to allow thereof. The cam (14) moves between the release position and the clamp position. Un bras pivotant (12) est monté dans le boîtier à plaquette (13) et tourne autour d'un pivot (30) à l'intérieur du boîtier. Le bras pivotant (12) comporte une partie de fixation (22), qui s'étend depuis le pivot (30) jusqu'à une position située au dessus d'une partie siège (18) et qui est apte coopérer avec une plaquette de coupe (16). En outre, le bras pivotant (12) comprend un bras (32) qui s'étend depuis le pivot (30) à l'opposé de la partie de fixation (22). Enfin, une came (14) se trouve en contact avec une extrémité distale (34) du bras (32). La came (14) possède une position de fixation qui force la partie de fixation (22) à coopérer avec une plaquette de coupe (16), et une position de libération qui force la partie de fixation (22) à se désolidariser d'une plaquette de coupe (16) pour libérer cette dernière. La came (14) se déplace entre la position de libération et la position de fixation.
