L'invention concerne des procédés permettant de distinguer parmi différents conformères protéiques de la même protéine telle que les protéines formant des dépôts amyloïdes. Les procédés selon l'invention permettent de détecter, différencier et quantifier au moins un conformère protéique dans un échantillon. Un exemple d'une protéine connue pour exister dans au mois deux conformations est la protéine prion normale (PrPC) et son isoforme infectieuse (PrPSC) . L'invention fournit un moyen de distinguer PrPC de PrPSC et permet la quantification de chacun individuellement même si les conformères sont présents ensemble dans un mélange.
