L'invention porte en particulier sur des métabolites halogénés (obtenus par le procédé de l'invention) servant à protéger des organismes hôtes contre des pathogènes et plus particulièrement des plantes contre des phytopathogènes. Dans ce dernier cas, l'invention porte sur des plantes transgéniques présentant une résistance accrue aux phytopathogènes, et sur des organismes de régulation biologique à propriétés améliorées de régulation biologique.
