Les inhibiteurs agissent notamment pour interférer avec la liaison de la protéine SarA avec son/ses sites de liaison. La sélection d'inhibiteurs spécifiques de la protéine SarA est possible grâce à l'identification des sites de liaison de la protéine SarA sur au moins une partie du gène agr (régulateur de gène accessoire), gène qui comme le gène sar (régulateur accessoire staphylococcique), joue un rôle dans la virulence de Staphylococcus. L'invention porte également sur un procédé de mise au point, de synthèse et d'identification d'inhibiteurs de la fonction de SarA et sur son rôle dans l'expression de facteurs de virulence staphylococcique.
